Effective Date: January 15, 2026
Last Updated: January 15, 2026

Our Commitment

BarJobs is committed to ensuring that our job board platform is accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We believe everyone deserves equal access to bar and hospitality job opportunities, regardless of ability.

We are actively working to improve the accessibility of barjobs.io and are committed to following best practices and standards as defined by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1.

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. We are working toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance for our website.

Current Status: Partially conformant

"Partially conformant" means that some parts of our platform may not fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are continuously evaluating and improving accessibility across our features.

Accessibility Features

We have implemented the following accessibility features:

  • Keyboard Navigation: All features can be accessed via keyboard
  • Screen Reader Compatibility: We test with common screen readers and aim for full compatibility
  • Text Alternatives: Images and non-text content include descriptive alt text
  • Color Contrast: We follow WCAG color contrast guidelines for text and interactive elements
  • Resizable Text: Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of functionality
  • Semantic HTML: We use proper heading hierarchy and landmarks for easy navigation
  • Focus Indicators: Visible focus states for interactive elements
  • Bilingual Support: Full platform availability in English and Spanish

Assistive Technologies We Test With

We regularly test BarJobs with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers: JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver (macOS/iOS)
  • Browser extensions: WAVE, Axe DevTools
  • Keyboard-only navigation
  • Various browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge

Known Limitations & Ongoing Work

We acknowledge the following areas where we are working to improve accessibility:

  • Third-Party Job Listings: Some job listings are scraped from external sources and may contain content that is not fully accessible. We are working to improve the formatting of this content.
  • Interactive Maps: If we add location-based features, we will ensure they have accessible alternatives.
  • PDF Documents: If employers upload PDFs, we cannot guarantee they are accessible. We encourage employers to provide accessible document formats.
