BarJobs provides SMS text message notifications to help connect employers and job seekers in the hospitality industry. Our SMS program includes:

  • Application Alerts (Employers): Notifications when job seekers apply to your posted job listings, helping you respond to candidates promptly
  • Application Status Updates (Job Seekers): Notifications when your application is reviewed, you are invited to interview, or your application status changes
  • Account Verification (All Users): One-time verification codes for account security during sign-in or account changes

2. What Messages You'll Receive

By opting in to BarJobs SMS notifications, you may receive:

For Employers

  • Application Alerts: Notifications when a candidate applies to one of your job postings, including the applicant's name and the position they applied for
  • Account Notifications: Important updates about your BarJobs account status

Example: "BarJobs: John Smith just applied for your Bartender position at Downtown Bar. View application at barjobs.io/applications"

For Job Seekers

  • Application Status Updates: Notifications when an employer reviews your application, invites you to interview, or updates your application status

Example: "BarJobs: Great news! Downtown Bar has moved your Bartender application to Interview stage."

For All Users

  • Account Verification: One-time security codes to verify your identity during sign-in or account changes

Example: "BarJobs: Your verification code is 123456. It expires in 10 minutes."

3. How to Opt-In

Users can opt-in to receive SMS notifications through the following methods. All methods require explicit, affirmative consent. SMS notifications are never enabled by default.

Method 1: During Employer Account Registration

When creating an employer account on BarJobs, you will be prompted to enter your phone number. After entering your phone number, a consent checkbox will appear. The checkbox is unchecked by default. You must actively check this box to consent to receiving SMS messages. Checking the box and completing registration constitutes your express written consent.

Method 2: Account Notification Settings

Existing users can enable SMS notifications at any time through their account notification settings. The toggle is disabled by default. Enabling it constitutes your express written consent to receive SMS messages.

  1. Log in to your BarJobs account at barjobs.io
  2. Navigate to your account settings (e.g., barjobs.io/home/[your-business]/settings)
  3. Ensure you have a phone number entered in your business profile
  4. In the "SMS Notifications" section, toggle on "Application Alerts via SMS"

Method 3: During Job Seeker Account Registration

When creating a job seeker (professional) account on BarJobs, you will be prompted to enter your phone number. After entering your phone number, a consent checkbox will appear. The checkbox is unchecked by default. You must actively check this box to consent to receiving SMS messages. Checking the box and completing registration constitutes your express written consent.

Method 4: Account Verification (OTP/2FA)

When you enter your phone number and request a verification code, you consent to receive that one-time message. Disclaimers are shown at the point of entry, and the message is limited to a single verification code per request.

Required Consent Disclosures

Before opting in through any method, users are informed of the following:

  • Brand Identification: Messages are sent by BarJobs, LLC
  • Message Frequency: Message frequency varies based on application activity (typically 1-10 per week)
  • Costs: Message and data rates may apply
  • Opt-Out: Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time
  • Help: Reply HELP for assistance
  • Terms & Privacy: Links to our SMS Terms, Terms of Service and Privacy Policy are provided at the point of consent

4. Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on your account activity and the type of notifications you receive:

  • Employers: 1-10 messages per week, depending on the number of active job listings and application volume. You will receive one SMS notification per job application submitted to your listings.
  • Job Seekers: 1-5 messages per week depending on application activity and employer responses to your applications.
  • Verification Codes: 1 message per verification request. These are sent only when you initiate a verification action.

5. How to Opt-Out (Unsubscribe)

You can stop receiving SMS notifications at any time using any of these methods:

Method 1: Reply STOP

Reply STOP to any BarJobs SMS message. You will receive a confirmation message and no further SMS messages will be sent.

Method 2: Account Settings

Log in to your BarJobs account, go to your profile settings, and toggle off "Application Alerts via SMS" in the SMS Notifications section.

Method 3: Contact Support

Email support@barjobs.io with your phone number and request to be unsubscribed from SMS notifications.

Message and data rates may apply. SMS messages are sent to the phone number you provide. Your mobile carrier may charge you for receiving text messages according to your plan. BarJobs does not charge any additional fees for SMS notifications.

8. Supported Carriers

BarJobs SMS notifications are supported by major U.S. carriers including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, and most regional carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

9. Privacy & Data Protection

Your phone number and SMS opt-in data are protected in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number or SMS consent data with third parties for marketing purposes.

SMS opt-in data (phone number and consent status) may only be shared with:

  • Our SMS service providers (Twilio and Bird) for message delivery purposes
  • Mobile network carriers as required for message transmission
  • As required by law or legal process
