Job Description
Position Summary:
The Bartender is responsible for mixing, pouring, and serving alcoholic beverages, selling food, and providing superior service to both internal and external customers. This is an on-call union position represented by UNITE HERE! Local 19.
Position Responsibilities:
- Greet guests courteously and promote drink orders.
- Mix and present drinks using standard recipes with proper portion control.
- Verify guest identification and manage guest inebriation according to training.
- Input orders into a register and create checks to maintain beverage accountability.
- Complete opening and closing inventory accurately.
- Handle cash transactions, verify charges, record sales, and ensure vouchers are properly executed.
- Set up and clean the bar daily, including stocking beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws, stirrers, condiments, and produce based on event projections.
- Lift or push items weighing up to 50 lbs safely.
- Securely store beverages, food, equipment, and cash deposits.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Position Requirements:
- Ability to speak, read, and write English effectively.
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a bartender in a full-service bar environment.
- Flexible scheduling availability including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Successful completion of Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification and valid California Food Handler certification.
- Basic math skills to manage cash and POS transactions accurately.
- Manual dexterity to prepare garnishes, handle glassware, mix drinks, and retrieve stock.
- Ability to lift and transport items weighing 50+ lbs.
- Perform general cleaning tasks to meet health and safety standards.
- Provide friendly, courteous, and professional customer service with a positive attitude.
- Comply with all federal, state, and corporate liquor laws and regulations.
