Job Description
Job Title: Bartender
Location: Porta (Montclair, NJ) 07042 Salary Range: $15.92 - $35.00 Hourly
A bartender at any Smith restaurant ensures guests have an enjoyable experience by providing quality customer service. Bartenders prioritize connecting with guests and building a loyal community. They work in the front of house preparing and serving drinks and food while maintaining a well-stocked, organized bar area including the liquor room and bar walk-ins.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for patrons
- Interact with customers, take orders, and serve snacks and drinks
- Assess customers’ needs and preferences and make recommendations
- Promote programming and special events; share the story of sister restaurants with guests
- Check identification according to ABC and Smith standards
- Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies
- Comply with all food and beverage regulations
- Process payments
- Properly clock in and out at the kiosk terminal
Qualifications:
- Excellent knowledge of mixing, garnishing, and serving drinks
- Computer literacy
- Positive attitude and excellent communication skills
- Ability to keep bar organized, stocked, and impeccable
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Able to lift 20 to 50 pounds
- Able to stand, walk (including up and down stairs), and reach for the entire shift
- Able to move kegs weighing up to 160 pounds
Requirements: Candidates must have strong knowledge of drink preparation and serving, multitask effectively, and meet physical demands such as standing for the full shift and lifting up to 50 pounds.
