ABOUT THE POSITION As a Bartender, you will deliver more than expertly mixed cocktails—you'll be a storyteller, sharing the essence of Vermejo through creative beverages and personalized guest interactions.

Responsibilities include:

Greeting guests warmly and promptly.
Assisting guests in ordering by making suggestions and pairings.
Preparing and serving a wide variety of beverages, including craft cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic options, adhering to recipes and guest preferences.
Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of Vermejo’s beverage offerings, including locally sourced spirits and wines.
Upholding bar cleanliness and maintenance.
Providing seamless full-service restaurant operation with a sense of urgency.
Attending to guests’ needs to ensure top-level service.
Communicating effectively with management during service.
Following all cleanliness and sanitation procedures.
Completing all opening and closing bar side-work as directed.
Participating in ongoing food and beverage education.
Practicing alcohol awareness and complying with New Mexico state laws.
Following all company policies and procedures.
Performing other duties as assigned.

This role is not a management or supervisory position.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS Essential:

Minimum of 2 years bartending experience.
Strong knowledge of mixology, spirits, beer, and wine with creativity in beverage preparation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills focused on guest service.
Ability to provide documentation establishing identity and employment authorization within three days of hire.

Preferred:

High school diploma or GED.
Experience in luxury or high-end hospitality environments.
Certification in bartending or mixology.
Certification in food safety and alcohol service (or willingness to obtain).

ACCOMMODATIONS This position requires living on Vermejo headquarters, approximately 40 miles from the nearest town (Raton, NM), about 4.5 hours from Denver or Albuquerque. Company housing is provided; transportation to/from Raton for personal supplies is the employee's responsibility.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT Regular activities include standing, sitting, walking, reaching, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and talking or hearing. The work involves long hours, exposure to wet or humid conditions, occasional vibration, and moderate noise levels. Slip-resistant shoes or boots are required.
