Title: Assistant Snack Bar Manager (Worcester Dining Commons)

Job Summary: Assist in the preparation and serving of food and beverages. Supervise personnel assigned to the unit. Assist with maintaining records. Hire, train, and supervise student employees. Responsible for cash handling and deposit of daily receipts for the assigned unit.

Essential Functions:

Prepare foods and beverages using standard recipes for customer consumption.
Requisition food supplies following established procedures.
Use manual and mechanical food service equipment.
Order supplies and equipment needed for operations.
Make daily deposits of sales receipts and prepare sales reports.
Supervise and assist in cleaning and maintaining equipment and work areas to meet sanitation standards.
Hire, train, and supervise student employees; assist in employee evaluation and scheduling.
Secure assigned area(s) at close of operations.
Maintain accurate records of cash, sales, inventory, and food storage.

Other Functions:

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

At least one (1) year of food service experience in a hotel, restaurant, cafeteria, or catering operation, or a diploma/certificate in culinary arts or food services.
Certification as a food handler (e.g., ServSafe) within six (6) months of appointment.
Working knowledge of food handling, storage, sanitation procedures, and cash handling equipment.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions clearly.
Ability to supervise employees effectively and maintain accurate records.
Ability to establish rapport and maintain harmonious working relationships with customers and colleagues.

Additional Details:

This position is designated as essential personnel.

Working Conditions:

Work performed in custodial or dining service environments.
Requires prolonged standing, carrying loads, and use of cleaning chemicals or food service equipment.

Work Schedule and Work Arrangement:

4:30pm–12:30am; may include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Rotating days off.

Salary Information:

Pay Grade: AFSCME Grade 10
