Title: Bartender

Position Summary: Responsible for providing fast, friendly, and courteous service to customers while taking and serving beverage orders.

Essential Duties:

Greet customers and present beverage menus.
Make recommendations and answer inquiries from guests.
Verify legal drinking age by checking identification before serving alcoholic beverages.
Take and accurately record drink orders from customers or serving staff.
Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks according to standard recipes.
Peel, slice, and pit fruit for garnishing drinks.
Mix and garnish cocktails following standard specifications.
Upsell drink and snack items.
Respond promptly and professionally to customer requests.
Monitor and limit problems related to excessive drinking by following established procedures.
Process transactions using the POS system, prepare checks, and handle payments.
Balance the cash register at the start and end of each shift and secure monies.
Maintain cleanliness of glasses, bar equipment, and work areas.
Arrange glasses and bottles into attractive, functional displays.
Learn and explain ongoing promotions to customers.
Comply with all health, safety, and hygiene standards and policies.
Monitor inventory and restock the bar as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements: Education and Experience:

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
Current ABLE Commission Liquor license.
At least one year of beverage server and/or bartending experience.
Basic math skills to give change and calculate tickets.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to accurately present change and understand guest charge procedures.
Experience mixing drinks and setting up beverage service.
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Effective communication skills with customers, management, and staff.
Ability to work with fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
Basic analytical and deductive reasoning.
Knowledge of safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment.
Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to see and read computer screens and printed materials.
Ability to hear and understand speech in various environments.
Ability to speak clearly for effective communication.
Physical agility to bend, stoop, sit, climb stairs or ladders, work in small spaces, walk, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds regularly.
Occasional heavy lifting or pushing/pulling up to 75 pounds.
Exposure to elements such as extreme temperatures, fumes, smoke, and loud noises.
Physical work constitutes more than 70% of the job.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of bartending or beverage service experience. A current ABLE Commission Liquor license and basic mathematical proficiency are also required.
