Title: Bartender (Bierhall)

SUMMARY: Accurately prepare beverages and food for guests both at the bar and on the floor. Accommodate guests' needs to provide an enjoyable experience in the Bierhall, whether for cocktails or dinner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Attend to guests' needs and accommodate special requests.
Interact with guests and co-workers in a friendly and courteous manner.
Prepare a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and food.
Take orders and deliver food and beverages accurately.
Set up, break down, and maintain cleanliness of the bar, tables, and side stations.
Mop floors, dust bottles, and defrost refrigerators as needed.
Replenish and restock supplies, including beer, mixers, ice, fruit, table settings, and condiments.
Use the Point of Sales system to accurately process guest checks and close them out.
Understand the bar menu, evening specials, and food preparation.
Properly stack and carry trays.
Understand and enforce Vermont state liquor laws.
Maintain the fireplace when appropriate.
Know the Trap Family history.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of 3 years bartending experience with a solid understanding of restaurant operations.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents and technical procedures.
Strong communication skills to present information and respond to guests and co-workers.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to food costs, payroll, and accounting.
Problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and act on various instructions.
Proficiency in computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and point-of-sale systems such as Micros.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk, hear, taste, and smell.
Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; occasionally up to 60 pounds.
Requires good peripheral vision and depth perception to oversee service.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Occasionally exposed to extremes in heat, outdoor conditions, and refrigerated areas.
Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic cleaning chemicals.
Noise level generally moderate to loud.
Work requires varied shifts and long hours.
