Position Title: Bartender - Catering

Job Category: Student Hourly

Job Summary: Accepting work-study and regular pay applicants.

Applicants must be part-time students enrolled in at least 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits and maintain good academic standing (minimum GPA 2.0). A criminal background check and Safe Server certification (to be obtained within the first semester of employment) are required.

Accountability: Reports to the University Dining Catering Manager and Student Manager – Catering.

Responsibilities:

Support University Dining special events on campus by greeting customers, learning preferences, recommending menu items, and preparing and serving beverages and food.
Work on an as-needed basis with variable shifts including daytime, nights, and weekends.
Set up events by stocking beverages, food products, and other amenities according to event requirements.
Communicate inventory status with management.
Operate cash register for product sales.
Follow bar service opening and closing procedures.
Serve bottled beer, wine, specialty drinks, and non-alcoholic beverages.
Maintain cleanliness of bar and supply storage areas with light to moderate cleaning during shifts.
Provide excellent customer service and resolve guest complaints within authority, escalating as needed.
Handle stressful situations including emergencies and incidents such as fake IDs or broken bottles.
Attend mandatory staff meetings.
Complete University Dining Orientation Canvas course and mandatory trainings prior to first shift.
Adhere to University Dining Student Employment Handbook policies.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Prior bartending experience is helpful but not required.
Ability to learn and perform duties efficiently while following beverage and food safety guidelines.
Friendly, outgoing, and professional with excellent hospitality skills.
Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced, noisy environment.
Ability to lift pans up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting up to 60 lbs.

Base Wage: $13.00/hour
