Lobby Lounge Bartender, Part-time, Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa

The Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa is a luxury property offering exceptional dining and leisure experiences, including the Lobby Lounge with live music most evenings. We are seeking a skilled Lobby Lounge Bartender to join our team.

Responsibilities:

Greet every guest in a friendly and courteous manner.
Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages promptly.
Stock and maintain bar inventory as assigned.
Clean bar and liquor storage areas regularly.
Verify guest identification and comply with state and federal liquor laws.
Take orders from customers or food servers.
Mix ingredients such as liquor, soda, sugar, bitters, and water to craft cocktails.
Serve wine and draft or bottled beer.
Promote and suggest specialty drinks and wine specials to guests.
Handle money collection, balance cash bank and daily receipts.
Order or requisition liquors and supplies as needed.
Arrange bottles and glasses to create attractive displays.
Slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks.
Maintain presence at the service bar to facilitate restaurant drink production.
Clean and replenish glassware for restaurant operations.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

Minimum one year bartending experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of drink recipes, wine, and bar terminology.
Familiarity with state and federal liquor laws and third-party liability.
Ability to detect and professionally manage intoxicated guests.
Fluent in English (read, write, speak).
Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to apply common sense and follow instructions.
Must demonstrate patience, tact, and diplomacy when dealing with customers.

Education and Experience: High school diploma preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. TIPS training certification preferred.

Physical Demands: Must be able to stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and move up to 25 pounds frequently.

Work Environment: Typically loud noise levels. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Grooming: Employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance according to company standards.

Pay Scale: $21.40 per hour plus gratuities.
