Title: Bartender

Job Summary: The Bartender takes orders, prepares, and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as light meals to guests in a courteous and efficient manner according to hotel specifications. They maintain stock, supplies, cleanliness, and organization of the bar and equipment.

Essential Job Functions:

Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas including bar tops, tables, and service areas.
Possess complete knowledge of menu items, liquor brands, beers, non-alcoholic selections, wines, and champagnes.
Adhere strictly to state liquor regulations, including prohibitions on serving minors, intoxicated persons, and drunk driving.
Follow all liquor control measures including drink portion controls and bottle requisition policies.
Monitor orders and ensure accurate input and transmission through the POS system; document orders manually when needed.
Greet guests, take food and beverage orders using suggestive selling techniques, prepare and serve drinks according to recipes.
Retrieve and serve food orders from the kitchen.
Open and serve wine/champagne bottles; prepare cappuccinos and espresso.
Handle guest checks, process payments, and adhere to cash handling and credit card policies.
Direct and assist Bar Backs and Cocktail Servers to ensure smooth service.
Complete opening, closing duties, reports, and secure the cash bank at shift end.
Maintain professional appearance and effective communication with team and management.
Attend team meetings and comply with safety, emergency procedures, and Company policies.
Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be 21 years of age or older.

Experience:

Minimum of one year experience as a Bartender or Bar Back in the food and beverage industry.
No supervisory experience required.

Licenses & Certifications:

Food Handler's Card (state/county-specific).
Alcohol Awareness Training Certification (state/county-specific).

Skills & Abilities:

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Effective communication in English.
Knowledge of bar cleaning techniques and equipment use.
Knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, and standard drink recipes.
Attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain composure under pressure and work with frequent interruptions.
Basic skills in Google Docs, Sheets, Microsoft Word, Excel, and basic math.
Ability to foster a positive and professional work environment.
Effective listening and ability to resolve challenges from management, team members, and guests.
Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment supporting inclusion.
