Job Summary: The Banquet Bartender provides polished and efficient bar service for meetings, weddings, and special events. Responsibilities include setting up and breaking down portable bars according to BEO specifications, crafting drinks to standard recipes, managing cash and consumption programs, and ensuring compliance with alcohol laws and sanitation standards. The role demands a fast, accurate, and guest-focused service approach.

Key Responsibilities:

Event Setup & Breakdown: Read BEOs and diagrams to set up portable bars with glassware, ice, CO2, kegs, product, and signage. Batch mixers and garnishes, label and rotate stock, break down bars, count returns, and maintain clean and organized storage areas.
Service Execution: Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipe, portion, and presentation standards. Provide wine and champagne service for toasts, and craft specialty cocktails and mocktails. Manage service pacing for receptions, plated dinners, stations, and cash/hosted bars.
Responsible Alcohol Service: Verify IDs, monitor consumption, and refuse service when appropriate, following all local and state regulations. Manage wristbands, tickets, and drink limits for hosted packages.
Cash Handling & Charge Capture: Operate POS systems and handheld devices to process payments, comps, voids, and room charges accurately. Reconcile cash banks, close checks, and complete captain’s summaries.
Inventory & Variance Control: Maintain par levels, change kegs safely, track pours and bottle usage, assist with ordering, receiving, and monthly inventories. Minimize breakage and waste; report variances and low stock to management.
Cleanliness, Safety & Compliance: Keep bars and backbar areas clean and sanitized. Follow ServSafe/HACCP, SDS/chemical handling, and OSHA safety protocols.
Teamwork & Communication: Coordinate with Banquet Captains, Culinary, and Servers for timing, dietary/allergy information, and VIP needs. Provide professional, friendly guest interactions and manage service recovery.

Qualifications:

1–2+ years of bartending experience preferred; banquet/catering or high-volume events experience a plus (training available for reliable candidates).
Strong knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, and cocktails with accurate jigger and free-pour techniques.
Proficient with POS systems and confident in cash handling.
Certifications required: TIPS, TEAM, or ServSafe Alcohol within 30 days; Food Handler certification preferred.
Able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand and walk throughout the shift with frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive motions.
Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50–75 lbs (kegs, cases, ice, portable bars).
Work in fast-paced indoor/outdoor event settings.
