Title: Bartender (Cantinero/a)

Location: Aloft South Bend - South Bend, IN 46601 Position Type: Full-Time/Part-Time Shift: Any Category: Restaurant - Food Service

Position Purpose: Provide friendly, courteous, and efficient food and beverage service to all guests. Maintain a clean and organized bar area while performing additional food service duties as needed.

Essential Responsibilities:

Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for guests and servers.
Take beverage and food orders at the bar, describe menu items, and suggest products.
Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies.
Conduct opening and closing inventory of spirits.
Securely store all liquor, beer, and wine products.
Assist with recipe batching, ice molding, liquor infusions, and garnish preparation.
Ensure cleanliness and proper function of taps, coolers, blenders, and coffee makers.
Verify customer identification to ensure legal drinking age compliance.
Refuse service to minors and intoxicated persons.
Operate cash register, process payments, and provide accurate change.
Maintain cleanliness of the bar through waste disposal, glassware cleaning, and surface wiping.
Assist servers, other bartenders, and barbacks as needed.
Participate in deep cleaning of the outlet.
Provide professional and courteous customer service at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Supportive Functions:

Assist with guest inquiries.
Follow all company safety and security policies.
Report maintenance issues, hazards, accidents, or injuries.
Perform additional reasonable duties as requested by supervisors.

Physical Demands:

Work primarily indoors with moderate temperature control.
Ability to work in extreme temperatures (freezers up to -10°F and kitchens up to 110°F) for up to one hour.
Stand and move continuously for up to four hours.
Maneuver in limited spaces and reach different hotel areas promptly.
Lift up to 45 lbs and push/pull carts or equipment up to 250 lbs.
Perform tasks requiring grasping, bending, climbing, and repeated motions.
Maintain visual and auditory abilities to monitor product quality and communicate.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the primary workplace language.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent leadership and customer relations abilities.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Basic computer and computational skills.
Ability to handle difficult customer interactions with patience and diplomacy.
Familiarity with Windows OS, MS Office, PMS, and POS systems.
Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Knowledge of bar and table service.
Understanding of spirits, beer, wine, and flavor profiles.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

One to three years of experience in a high-volume bar environment required.

Licenses and Certifications:

Must be at least 21 years old to serve alcohol.
Safe Server Alcohol & Food Handlers certification required.
California RBS Certification required.

Grooming and Attendance:

Maintain neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per company standards.
Regular attendance and punctuality are essential.
Compliance with company rules, safety policies, and training requirements is mandatory.
Work schedules may vary according to business needs.
