Job Description

Title: Barback

Overview: Prepare and service hotel bars in accordance with established guest service and sustainability standards.

Growth Path: Food Runner → Server → Bartender

Responsibilities:

Greet and acknowledge guests during barback duties.
Retrieve orders from storeroom; verify stock accuracy with storeroom personnel and bartenders.
Prepare garnishes and fruits; mix and pour juices as needed. Store refrigerated supplies properly.
Assist bartenders in maintaining supplies such as stir sticks, napkins, and matches.
Maintain cleanliness of the bar area, beer lockers, refrigeration, and storage to meet health code standards.
Scoop, transport, and replenish ice.
Collect and store empty liquor bottles for returns.
Transport and replace taps; perform routine maintenance on beer kegs.
Follow sustainability practices according to HHM’s EarthView program.
Adhere to safety protocols, wearing protective equipment and following MSDS and OSHA standards.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Customer service or restaurant experience is a plus.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

Variable schedule including holidays, weekends, and alternate shifts.
Physical requirements include standing, walking, pushing, lifting, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
