Summary Perform the functions of a dining server in an upscale dining atmosphere, including maintaining clean, sanitary, and organized dining areas, facilities, and equipment. May assist in some aspects of food preparation.
- Provide excellent customer service reflecting an upscale dining experience.
- Take and serve food and beverage orders timely and accurately.
- Greet customers courteously and address dissatisfied customers promptly.
- Know all menu details, including allergen information, and describe preparation methods to guests.
- Make menu recommendations and share additional information with customers.
- Have full knowledge of all drink recipes and enter orders into computer software.
- Serve 16 or more guests at a time and recall orders upon request.
- Check product quality and resolve issues to enhance guest satisfaction.
- Perform dining service routines using appropriate utensils, supplies, and equipment.
- Assist with dining service setup, including room and table arrangements, stocking buffets and serve stations, preparing beverages, salads, desserts, and other food items according to recipes.
- Support receiving and storing food and supplies, ensuring proper food temperatures and timely service.
- Assist with cleanup to maintain dining areas according to policies and standards, including bussing tables, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing dishes, trash removal, and proper stocking.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Minimum 1 year (preferably 2-3 years) experience in fine dining or country club venues.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow recipe instructions, diet orders, preference cards, and work assignments.
- Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
- Patience and tolerance toward staff, residents, and family members.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop constructive working relationships.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Service-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Active listening and communication competencies.
- Must have or be willing to receive Hepatitis A vaccine if working within St. Louis County.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Stand and walk intermittently throughout the day; reach, stoop, bend, lift, carry various food products, supplies, and equipment.
- Ability to work with chemicals and cleaning agents.
- Endure temperature and humidity changes (e.g., refrigerated areas, ovens, dishwashers).
- Must be free from infections or diseases.
- Ability to lift and carry a 27-inch tray weighing 20 lbs at 36 inches height for 100 ft; walk continuously for ½ mile; push/pull equipment weighing up to 180 lbs; and perform a full squat.
- Pay grade: 07, $15.00/hour to $22.00/hour.
- No shift differentials.
