The Dining Services Bartender / Server is responsible for providing prompt, courteous service to residents and guests in the dining room and bar during assigned hours. This role includes serving, cleaning, hospitality duties, and preparing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The bartender will interact with customers by taking orders, serving snacks and drinks, assessing needs, and making recommendations. Services extend to the Dining Room, Bar, Bistro, meetings, and special events. Additional duties may include preparing salads and desserts as directed.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Assist in food preparation, hospitality, and bar service, including serving food, waiting tables, and bussing tables.
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Take customer orders and serve snacks and drinks.
- Assess customers’ needs and make appropriate recommendations.
- Mix, garnish, and serve cocktails.
- Plan and present the bar menu.
- Verify customers’ legal age for alcohol consumption.
- Restock and maintain bar inventory and supplies.
- Ensure an excellent guest experience and remain guest-focused.
- Assist in setting up meetings with snacks and beverages.
- Follow sanitation guidelines, federal/state regulations, and healthcare requirements.
- Perform cleaning tasks as scheduled and maintain cleanliness.
- Open and close bar and eatery areas as needed.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma required.
- Servsafe training is beneficial.
- Relevant state training certificate or license preferred.
- Minimum of one year bartending or serving experience, including mixing, garnishing, serving drinks, and maintaining sanitation protocols.
- Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions and safety practices.
- Cordial, dependable, detail-oriented, and organized.
- Ability to work independently and follow policies and procedures.
- Able to handle multiple tasks efficiently and remain calm in emergencies.
- Patient and compassionate, especially with senior adults.
- Respectful of residents' comfort, safety, security, and belongings.
- Time management and prioritization skills.
- Maintain neat work areas and comply with dress code and hygiene standards.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, preparation, and serving principles.
- Ability to work well with residents, staff, families, visitors, vendors, and community members.
- Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent stooping, bending, climbing, reaching, pulling/pushing, and standing or walking for long periods.
- Ability to stand, sit, twist, bend, squat, kneel, or crouch as needed.
- Adequate sight and hearing to perform job duties.
Compensation: $14.01 - $18.44 per hour. Actual salary depends on qualifications, experience, skills, education, location, and equity considerations.
