Title: Bartender

Position Title: Bartender Reports To: Food and Beverage Supervisor Department: Lounge Date: May 2026

Position Summary: Responsible for providing beverage service to guests while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and service.

Supervision Received: Reports to the Food and Beverage Supervisor.

Primary Function: Create a memorable experience for guests.

Essential Functions:

Take orders and ring them in correctly.
Maintain proper control of liquor transactions and bar inventory.
Verify customer identification to ensure legal drinking age.
Prepare drinks using standard recipes and practice prudent portion control.
Maintain liquor, beer, and wine stock at appropriate levels.
Perform closing duties promptly each night.
Ensure transactions are processed immediately, payments collected, and receipts issued; finalize all outstanding charges.
Adhere to company policies and liquor laws.
Complete checkout for all tickets and payments at end of shift.
Set up station in an orderly and timely manner.
Maintain efficient service times.
Utilize merchandising techniques.
Know preparation times and sales prices for all food and beverage items.
Anticipate guests' needs.
Attend Banquet Bars as needed.
Comply with all policies and procedures in the Columbia Gorge Hotel Employee Handbook.

Secondary Functions:

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Food Handler’s Card and OLCC Permit.
Must be at least 21 years old.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
Ability to stand and walk for entire shifts.
Ability to carry and balance trays.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to read and follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Knowledge of mixology.

Working Conditions: This position requires the ability to perform all essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Lifting: 5%, up to 50 lbs.

Additional: Candidates must be at least 21 years old and possess or be able to obtain the required certifications. Physical stamina and ability to carry trays are essential.
