Job Description
Job Title: Bartender
Location: DoubleTree by Hilton Virginia Beach (near Convention Center), Virginia Beach, VA 23451
Salary: $4.15 per hour
Job Responsibilities:
- Set up and maintain the bar daily, including requisitioning and stocking beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws, stirrers, condiments, and produce according to guest occupancy projections.
- Prepare, cut, and store fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables to ensure product quality.
- Greet guests courteously, addressing them by name when possible.
- Promote and document drink orders.
- Mix and present drinks using standard recipes and practicing appropriate portion control.
- Input orders and process transactions (cash, credit card, vouchers) accurately using the point-of-sale system.
- Maintain accurate records of beverages served.
- Handle cash deposits, bank drops, and secure all beverage, food, and equipment storage.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, especially various alcoholic drinks.
- Basic math skills for cash handling and inventory management.
- Basic English writing skills for requisitions, balance sheets, and vouchers.
- Manual dexterity to prepare garnishes, handle glassware, scoop ice, mix drinks, and retrieve stock.
- Ability to read, speak, and understand English for guest interaction and order taking.
- Ability to memorize and promote menu items.
- Competence in using keyboard and point-of-sale systems.
- Ability to stand for long periods in confined spaces.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma preferred.
- Previous bartending experience required.
