Title: R&B Barback

Primary Responsibilities: The Barback is responsible for providing exceptional experiences for The Battery’s members and guests through warm, intuitive, and personalized service. This role includes maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bar station, stocking and restocking supplies, setting up and tearing down, and assisting Bartenders with various tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Greet guests promptly and maintain water service.
Demonstrate working knowledge of spirits, beer, wine, and classic cocktails.
Communicate effectively with bartenders and service team on the floor.
Work quickly and efficiently to perform a wide range of tasks.
Participate in daily service meetings and respond to questions.
Have detailed knowledge of the wine and spirits selection, including technical and service aspects.
Prepare ice and garnishes to properly set up bars and restock during service.
Restock beer, liquor, wine, glassware, and juice using proper product rotation.
Check the functionality, quality, and fill level of kegs before and during service.
Maintain constant cleanliness behind the bar, on the bar top, and guest areas.
Collect, wash, polish, and restock glassware.
Flexibility to work in multiple outlets within the hotel during the same shift.
Describe food and beverage programs articulately in other outlets.
Perform ongoing cleaning and maintenance of the workstation and physical plant as assigned.
Possess working knowledge of menu items, food preparation techniques, and culinary terminology.
Work cohesively with the front-of-house service team.
Assist in training new bar staff under management guidance.
Report problem situations to management immediately.
May be responsible for correctly transferring checks when necessary.
Attend mandatory meetings as scheduled.

Minimum Requirements:

At least 21 years of age.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum three years of Barback experience in an upscale casual or fine dining atmosphere preferred.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English comprehensively.
Basic math skills.
Basic computer skills preferred.
Professional demeanor when dealing with guests, maintaining composure in high-stress situations.

Working Environment and Physical Requirements:

Frequent contact with members and guests.
Ability to tolerate varying noise levels, temperature, illumination, and air quality.
Requires hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and normal senses of smell, taste, touch, and hearing.
Must respond to visual or auditory cues.
Ability to bend, twist, lean, lift (up to 50 pounds), push, pull, kneel, walk, stand, or sit for up to 8+ hours per shift.
Work effectively in a stressful and fast-paced environment with changing climate conditions.
Ability to maneuver freely throughout the property.

Compensation: $19.18 per hour plus tips.
