Reports To: Concept Manager Department: Food and Beverage Operations Status: Non-Exempt Date: September 2023
Broad Functions: Serve beverages and food to guests in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner to ensure total guest satisfaction. Prepare beverages for servers to supply to guests and act as cashier for the facility.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Take beverage orders from guests and servers.
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks according to standard recipes.
- Input orders into the point of sale system and create checks for each guest to maintain accountability.
- Accept payments, process credit card charges, and verify vouchers to balance all transactions.
- Wash and sterilize glassware.
- Prepare garnishes and replenish snacks and appetizers for bar patrons.
- Maintain stock, cut, and store fresh fruit, vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables daily to ensure quality.
- Adhere to all applicable liquor laws and regulations regarding service to minors and intoxicated guests.
- Contact management and security when dealing with disorderly guests.
- Clear and reset tables in the bar area.
- Follow the guest service program, including presenting drink menus, making recommendations, and answering beverage-related questions.
- Maintain cleanliness in all bar areas including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves, and storage.
- Report equipment malfunctions and maintenance issues to the restaurant manager.
- Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies, including beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws, stirrers, and condiments.
- Assist as needed to ensure smooth restaurant operations as directed by management.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 21 and at least one year of bartending experience.
- High school diploma preferred.
- Proficient in verbal and written English to communicate with guests and take orders.
- Basic math skills to operate cash register, make change, total checks, and handle transactions.
- Required food handler or liquor permits.
- Brand certification as applicable.
- Ability to remember and promote a variety of menu items.
- Competent in using a POS system for order entry and checkout.
- Ability to work and stand in confined spaces for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, especially alcoholic beverages.
- Able to communicate effectively with guests.
- Capable of reaching, bending, stooping, and frequently lifting up to 50 pounds.

Physical Demands: The role requires standing for long periods, using hands and fingers, verbal communication, and hearing. The bartender may frequently reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, taste, and smell. Occasionally, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting or moving up to 50 pounds is required. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, and ability to focus.
