Bartender, Bar

Company: Courtyard by Marriott Alexandria

Overview: The Bartender provides customized beverage service to hotel restaurant/bar guests in a friendly, energetic, and timely manner. The role focuses on guest satisfaction, multitasking, and effective communication.

Responsibilities:

Greet guests warmly and provide clear, accurate descriptions of food and beverage options.
Maintain proper setup and organization of the bar area.
Stock beer, wine, spirits, paper products, garnishes, and other perishables.
Mix, garnish, and present drinks following standard recipes and portion controls.
Input orders into POS system and secure accurate payments.
Manage cash transactions, verify charges, and balance money accurately.
Lock up and store beverages, food, and equipment; secure cash deposits and bank at shift end.
Sanitize and clean bar area regularly.
Complete daily inventory prep sheets and other side work as required.
Stay knowledgeable of menu offerings and promote drink orders.
Ensure compliance with food safety and handling policies.
Assist in maintaining cleanliness of restaurant and surrounding areas.
Work effectively with service and kitchen teams.
Attend monthly departmental meetings.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Preferred experience in hospitality, service, or bartending.
Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Ability to follow instructions, complete assigned tasks, and meet deadlines.
Consistently provide friendly service with a smile.
Flexible availability including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must arrive and clock in/out on time for all scheduled shifts and breaks.
Must provide sufficient notice when unable to work a scheduled shift.
Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods, perform repetitive motions, and lift supplies.
Proficient in English for reading, writing, and communication.
