Title: Bartender | Brook Valley Country Club

Overview

Brook Valley Country Club is seeking Bartenders to join our team to prepare, pour, and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The position requires knowledge of all aspects of mixology, including food and wine pairings as well as wine presentation and service.

Responsibilities

Inspect the bar prior to opening to ensure adequate supplies are available.
Request additional supplies as necessary and stock the bar.
Follow set-up and closing procedures.
Prepare garnishes, fruit mixes, and pre-mixed drinks prior to opening.
Greet members and guests.
Mix, prepare, and serve drinks to members and guests, including orders from food and beverage servers, according to approved standard recipes.
Collect payments for drinks served.
Report complaints to a manager as they occur.
Maintain and clean the bar area and equipment.
Maintain accurate records of liquors, beers, and wines to ensure bar stock is adequately maintained.
Ensure all food items are properly stored, labeled, dated, and rotated to prevent health or safety hazards.
Attend staff meetings, including pre-shift line-ups and training sessions.
Comply strictly with all laws and club policies regarding alcoholic beverage service; notify management if continued service is questionable.
Serve drinks to members and guests seated at lounge tables in the absence of a beverage server.
Practice beverage and revenue control procedures consistently.
Thank members and guests and invite them to return.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Minimum Grade 12 education.
At least two years of bartending experience.
Must be of legal age to prepare and serve alcoholic beverages.
Weekend availability required.

Job Knowledge and Core Competencies

Skilled in stocking the bar and completing pre-opening and pre-closing requirements.
Ability to prepare and serve alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes.
Able to responsibly slow or refuse alcohol service when necessary.
Basic knowledge of safety and sanitation standards.
Good organizational skills.
Familiarity with club’s POS system or comparable system preferred.
Knowledgeable about department operations, including events and hours.
Ability to read and understand Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
Capable of working independently or in a team in both small and large events.
Understands and follows all club policies and relevant laws governing alcohol service.
Knowledge of emergency procedures relevant to the role.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Must be able to stand for long periods, walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, and reach.
Able to push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds.
Performs continuous repetitive motions.
Works in hot, humid, and noisy environments.

Pay Range

USD $12.00 - $14.00 per hour.
