Title: Barback - Harvest Hall

Department: Food and Beverage Reports To: Food & Beverage Manager Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary: The Barback is the Bartender’s right hand. Barbacks must be attuned to the flow of service within their station and understand the service cycle for each table. The Barback welcomes and accommodates guests’ needs and is responsible for setup, service, and cleanup of service items according to company standards and safety and sanitation policies. Constant communication with bartenders, a graceful presence at the bar, and attention to detail are essential.

Responsibilities:

Assist bartenders, servers, and hosts in properly serving food and beverages when requested.
Clear, clean, and reset the bar according to company and sanitation standards to ensure readiness for the next guest.
Crumb tables as directed by servers.
Transport dirty tableware from the dining room to the dish drop area and sort accordingly.
Maintain stock and cleanliness of the bar for all meal periods, including wiping down bars and chairs, moving tables and chairs, and cleaning floors as necessary.
Ensure the bar remains organized, fully stocked, and visually appealing during each shift.
Respond promptly and graciously to guest service issues, reporting to the appropriate server or manager on duty.
Maintain an acceptable appearance of the station and surrounding area.
Perform special cleaning projects as needed (e.g., dusting, polishing, scrubbing walls).
Maintain communication and teamwork with all coworkers and supervisors.
Conduct oneself professionally at all times, recognizing all actions and communications are visible to guests.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Clear thinking and communication in high-pressure situations.
Ability to move quickly and gracefully throughout the dining area.
Growing knowledge of the restaurant’s menu, ingredients, cooking techniques, and glassware types.
Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality while adhering to dress code.
Understanding of basic sanitation practices.
Familiarity with computer operations and ordering procedures.
Effective communication with guests, coworkers, and supervisors.
Ability to absorb and retain large amounts of information quickly, including service procedures, menus, dining room layout, and register operation.

Physical Demands:

Ability to walk and stand throughout an eight-hour shift.
Ability to lift, balance, and carry large, oval service trays.
Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move up to 40 pounds.

Required Personal Protective Equipment:

Closed-toe, non-canvas, non-skid soled shoes.
