Job Title: Bartender ("Cantinero/a") - Van Ryder

Location: Le Meridien Element Salt Lake City Downtown - Salt Lake City, UT 84101

Position Type: Full-Time/Part-Time

Salary: $8.00 per hour

Job Category: Restaurant - Food Service

Position Purpose: Provide friendly, courteous, and efficient quality presentation of food and beverage service to all guests. Maintain cleanliness and setup of tables and assist with general food service duties.

Responsibilities:

Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for guests and servers.
Take beverage and food orders at the bar; describe menu items and suggest products.
Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies.
Conduct opening and closing inventory of spirits.
Securely store all liquor, beer, and wine products.
Assist with recipe batching, ice molding, liquor infusions, and garnish preparation.
Ensure taps, coolers, blenders, and coffee makers are clean and functioning.
Verify customers' identification to confirm legal drinking age.
Refuse service to minors and intoxicated individuals.
Operate cash register, process payments, and provide change accurately.
Maintain bar area cleanliness by disposing of waste, clearing glassware, and wiping down surfaces.
Assist servers, bartenders, and barbacks as needed.
Participate in deep cleaning of the outlet.
Provide professional and courteous customer service.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Supportive Functions:

Assist with guest inquiries.
Follow all company safety and security policies.
Report maintenance issues, hazards, accidents, or injuries.
Perform other reasonable duties as requested.

Physical Demands:

Work primarily indoors with controlled moderate temperatures.
Ability to work in extreme temperatures (freezers at -10°F, kitchens at +110°F) for up to one hour.
Stand and move continuously for up to four hours.
Maneuver in limited spaces and travel within hotel departments.
Lift up to 45 lbs and push/pull carts/equipment up to 250 lbs.
Use fine motor skills, visual and auditory abilities to perform job functions.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.
One to three years of experience in a high-volume bar environment.
Must be at least 21 years old.
Safe Server Alcohol & Food Handlers certification required.
California RBS Certification.

Skills and Abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communication.
Strong leadership and customer relations skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with Windows OS, MS Office, PMS, and POS.
Ability to work independently and handle difficult customer situations with tact and diplomacy.
Knowledge of spirits, beer, wine, flavor profiles, and bar/table service.

Grooming and Attendance:

Maintain neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance according to company standards.
Regular attendance and punctuality are essential; irregular attendance may result in disciplinary action.
Must comply with company policies and be flexible to work varying schedules.
Attend all required training and meetings.
