Title: Special Events Bartender

About Food Services Department: The Food Services Events Team at VMFA is passionate about creating memorable experiences for guests. The team values professionalism, flexibility, and teamwork in a mission-driven environment that supports museum operations.

Responsibilities:

Prepare bars and keep them stocked throughout shifts using standard beverage recipes.
Check guests’ identification and validate all forms of ID.
Mix drinks according to management guidelines and Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) policies.
Monitor and maintain alcohol inventory and complete consumption reports.
Maintain tight controls on alcohol and ensure a safe environment by addressing any issues appropriately.
Provide consistently high levels of customer service.
Adhere to all safety and sanitary practices.
Investigate and resolve customer complaints when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume environments while maintaining professionalism.
Knowledge of full-service bar operations, beverage recipes, and ABC policies.
Familiarity with basic bar equipment (shaker, strainer, juicer, muddler).
Ability to set up, maintain, and break down the bar.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Experience using point of sale (POS) systems and cash handling procedures.
Ability to provide excellent customer service and work as part of a diverse team.
Flexible availability including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical ability to stand or walk for up to 8 hours and lift/move up to 50 pounds.
Punctual and reliable.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior bartending and/or serving experience.
Experience in fast-paced, fine dining environments.
Bartending education or training.
ServSafe Food Handler certification is a plus.
