Title: Bartender - New Modern California Bistro & Lounge Opening

Objective: The Bartender crafts and serves beverages to the highest standard while delivering engaging and professional hospitality at the bar of a fast-paced, elevated California bistro. This role executes the cocktail and wine program consistently and serves alcohol responsibly. The Bartender works closely with the General Manager and Assistant General Manager to uphold beverage standards and responsible alcohol service.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, and other beverages according to recipe and presentation standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar throughout service.
Manage bar inventory, par levels, and waste; communicate ordering needs to management.
Provide warm, knowledgeable, and efficient service to bar and dining guests.
Make confident recommendations on California wines and craft cocktails.
Resolve guest concerns and escalate to management when necessary.
Serve alcohol responsibly in compliance with California ABC laws and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) requirements.
Verify identification and refuse service to intoxicated or underage guests; notify management of concerns.
Follow cash-handling, POS, and tip-reporting procedures accurately.
Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation requirements and report concerns to management.
Participate in weekly inventory counts.

Physical Demands:

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, often for the duration of a shift.
Ability to lift and carry moderate loads (up to 35 pounds), such as trays, glass racks, and supplies.
Ability to bend, reach, and move quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Frequent interaction with guests and staff, requiring clear verbal communication.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

California Food Handler Card required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
California Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification required within 60 days of hire.
Minimum of 3 years bartending experience in a high-volume, elevated environment.
Strong knowledge of California wines and classic and craft cocktails, capable of executing a cocktail program consistently.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, elevated bistro with a passion for food, beverage, and hospitality.
POS experience preferred.
