**Job Description Summary** The Bartender plays a key role in delivering excellent service and contributing to the hotel’s success by managing the social venues. Responsibilities include setting up, servicing, and breaking down the bar area while maintaining high standards of quality and guest satisfaction.
**Essential Duties & Responsibilities:**
- Greet guests upon arrival at the bar; promote house drinks and use up-selling techniques to maximize revenue.
- Prepare beverages according to established pouring standards and recipes to ensure consistency and cost control.
- Coordinate with the restaurant for food service when applicable.
- Monitor guest alcohol consumption and check identification as required.
- Alert management about any service or safety concerns and perform service recovery when needed.
- Set up bar supplies including liquor, mixers, ice, garnishes, glassware, and snacks; perform pre- and post-shift side work.
- Inventory unused liquor and secure all alcohol before, during, and after the shift.
- Manage cash and credit payments accurately and maintain cleanliness of the bar area.
- Promote teamwork through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications and Requirements:**
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
- Knowledge of liquor brands, beer, wine, champagne, non-alcoholic beverages, glassware, preparation methods, and garnishments.
- Formal bartending training preferred.
- Must meet state legal age requirements.
- Must speak fluent English.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
- Mobility to move around bar, lounge, and kitchen; ability to bend, stoop, and kneel.
- Communication skills for interacting with customers and staff.
- Alcohol awareness certification and/or valid food handler card as required by local/state regulations.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
**Pay Range:** Starting at $22.90 per hour. Base pay may vary based on experience and skills.
