Title: Music Hall Bartender - House of Blues, San Diego
Job Summary: We are seeking a passionate, motivated, and resourceful Music Hall Bartender with an entrepreneurial spirit to join Live Nation Entertainment. If you are innovative, forward-thinking, and committed, this role is for you.
- Serve guests food and beverages in a high-volume, fast-paced, and loud music hall environment.
- Interact with guests in a natural, friendly manner.
- Cultivate regular guests and encourage repeat business.
- Successfully complete a pour test prior to every shift, where applicable.
- Suggestively sell beverages and menu items.
- Deliver food and beverage orders promptly.
- Prioritize and organize drink orders.
- Prepare beverages according to standard recipes and venue specifications.
- Report equipment failures or safety hazards in the bar log.
- Recognize signs of intoxication and refuse further alcohol service politely and safely, notifying a manager.
- Ensure responsible alcohol service per local ordinances and House of Blues (HOB) policies.
- Request proper identification for patrons appearing under 30 years of age.
- Maintain safety and sanitation standards.
- Perform opening, running, and closing duties according to HOB policy.
- Prepare guest checks and process payments.
- Maintain bartender cash bank and perform cash pull/check-out procedures.
- Manage appropriate comp and spill checks.
- Occasionally work special events scheduled throughout the venue.
Qualifications: Required:
- San Diego County Food Handler Certification.
- TIPS Certification.
- Responsible Alcohol Awareness Training Certification or equivalent.
- Ability to work late hours and flexible scheduling.
- Cash handling experience.
- Ability to lift/move up to 25 lbs using proper techniques.
- Strong interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to pass timed pour tests and mixology drills.
- Capability to handle intoxicated guests positively and safely.
- Tolerance and appreciation of diverse cultures, music, and art forms.
- Minimum 4 years experience in a high-volume environment.
- Experience recognizing valid IDs.
- Experience working in a live music environment.
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
- Fast-paced, often loud, and occasionally stressful.
- Requires prolonged standing and working on feet.
- Ability to lift or move up to 25 lbs properly.
