Title: Bartender

Location: Chicago Airport F&B

Compensation: $9.24 to $16.50 per hour

Summary: The Bartender is responsible for greeting customers, taking drink and food orders, mixing ingredients such as liquor, soda, water, and sugar to prepare cocktails and other beverages, serving beer and other drinks, and completing transactions. The role requires communicating ticket times and potential issues to the manager on duty and servers as needed. The Bartender provides high-quality service to customers and associates at all times and performs additional duties as assigned. This is a non-exempt position that typically reports to the Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, or General Manager according to local requirements.

Essential Functions:

Greet customers and take food and drink orders; provide product information and identify opportunities to upsell
Follow recipes and product directions for mixing beverages
Collect payments and operate cash registers following company cash handling policies; secure all monies at shift end
Follow alcohol awareness procedures to prevent intoxication and manage intoxicated guests appropriately
Adhere to all HMSHost customer service, adult beverage, and cash handling policies
Ensure a clean, sanitized, and well-stocked bar environment

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:

Must meet state minimum age requirements for serving alcoholic beverages
Minimum of 1 year bartending experience; experience in high-volume or fast-casual dining preferred
Knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits preparation and presentation; stays updated on beverage recipes
Ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing manner
Ability to read, comprehend instructions, correspondence, and policy documents; comfortable conversing with customers
Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
Cash handling and customer service experience preferred
Frequent immersion of hands in water or chemical solutions
