Bar Manager
Job Description
We are seeking a committed and proactive Bar Manager to lead in an exciting, fast-paced environment. The Bar Manager will promote and grow the business, hire and train staff, and ensure patrons receive excellent drinks, food, and service. Key responsibilities include managing inventory and resources, planning promotional events, enforcing quality and safety controls, maintaining licenses, updating vendor contracts, creating schedules, and setting business objectives to increase profits and maximize customer satisfaction. The role requires working effectively with diverse personalities and diffusing tense situations when necessary.
Bar Manager Responsibilities:
- Manage business operations including liquor license compliance, supplier negotiations, inventory management, budgeting, and goal setting.
- Hire, train, and develop staff to deliver excellent service.
- Create effective schedules and resolve staffing conflicts to maintain optimal coverage during peak hours.
- Enforce quality and safety standards.
- Maintain and update licenses in compliance with legislation.
- Collaborate with diverse staff and patrons.
- Plan and participate in promotional events.
- Diffuse tense situations and eject unruly persons when needed.
- Maintain a fun and safe environment for patrons.
Bar Manager Requirements:
- High school diploma required; restaurant or management experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of business management and accounting principles.
- Excellent computer, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to diffuse conflicts and make decisive decisions.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to effectively delegate and maximize resources.
- Physical ability to walk, stand, and occasionally carry heavy items in a fast-paced environment.
