Position Overview: The Bartender is responsible for taking orders, preparing, and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and food to guests courteously and efficiently according to hotel standards. This role includes maintaining bar stock, supplies, and cleanliness, handling cash transactions, and ensuring a safe environment for patrons and staff. Strong knowledge of wine, spirits, beer, and cocktail preparation is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Comply with all departmental policies, service standards, and procedures.
Be knowledgeable about hotel services and local attractions to assist guests.
Maintain and properly use all bar equipment.
Provide excellent guest service and resolve complaints.
Know all menu items, liquor brands, beer brands, and non-alcoholic options.
Understand the characteristics of wines and champagnes offered.
Know designated glassware and garnishes for drinks.
Be familiar with table setups, seating, capacity, operating hours, menus, pricing, and dress code.
Prepare and serve beverages and coffee drinks as requested.
Adhere strictly to state liquor laws, including those related to serving minors and intoxicated persons.
Use the Point of Sale system accurately and report any issues.
Handle and secure assigned cash bank.
Complete opening and closing duties.
Greet guests and take orders using suggestive selling techniques.
Prepare in-room dining drink orders.
Process payments following cash handling policies.
Manage supply usage to meet budgeted beverage costs and minimize waste.
Follow OSHA and hotel safety regulations for chemical use.
Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
Uphold the hotel’s core values: ownership, innovation, craft, respect, and community.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

At least 21 years of age.
Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Minimum two years of experience in a full-service hotel or restaurant bartender role.
Ability to taste alcohol during training and menu updates.
TIPS certification required within 30 days of hire.
Experience with MICROS POS preferred.
Detail-oriented, able to work accurately and calmly under pressure.
Team player with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Flexible to work varied schedules including weekends and holidays.
Physically able to lift up to 40 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Ability to stand and walk for entire shift.
Capable of performing repetitive motions, bending, climbing, and effective listening and vision.
