Department: Food and Beverage Reports to: Restaurant Manager Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary: Bartenders prioritize, multitask, and communicate effectively. They have extensive spirits knowledge and understand flavor balance in cocktails. Bartenders deliver exceptional drinking and dining experiences at the bar, prepare all cocktails and beer for the dining room and bar, and maintain a friendly, welcoming environment. They engage guests with a cheerful, helpful attitude to maximize and enrich the guest experience.

Responsibilities:

Greet and seat customers promptly and courteously within one minute of approach.
Present drink menus, recommend beverages, answer questions, and take orders from guests and servers.
Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks according to standard recipes.
Upsell drink specials and food items as directed.
Execute wine service when necessary.
Check in regularly with guests to ensure satisfaction.
Clearly communicate allergy and dietary restrictions on tickets.
Take tables in bar or dining room as assigned.
Accurately record drink orders immediately into the POS system.
Accept guest payments, process credit card charges, and make change.
Learn and recognize regular patrons.
Provide gracious, professional, and efficient service maintaining a professional demeanor.
Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests or issues.
Report equipment or maintenance problems to management.
Maintain attractive and functional bottles and glassware to support drink preparation and promotion.
Keep the bar properly stocked at all times.
Maintain cleanliness of bar areas including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves, and storage.
Assist with restocking bar inventory and supplies.
Maintain professional appearance and uniform standards.
Foster open communication and positive teamwork between Front of House, Back of House, and hotel staff.
Thank every guest sincerely upon departure.
Follow and uphold established sanitation standards, company procedures, and perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Must be at least 21 years old.
Must possess and maintain a valid Kansas license.
Outgoing personality with positive attitude and strong communication skills.
Extensive knowledge of wines, beverages, garnishes, prices, and cocktail recipes.
Willingness to try new food and drinks.
Ability to confidently recommend food and beverage pairings.
Knowledge of pre-check register operation, basic math skills, and money handling.
Familiarity with computer operations and ordering procedures.
Understanding of basic sanitation.
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
Ability to think and communicate clearly under pressure.
Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.

Experience:

Previous bartending, serving, and/or customer service experience required.

Physical Demands:

Ability to stand for long periods (up to 5 hours).
Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.

Required Personal Protective Equipment:

Closed-toe, non-canvas, non-skid soled shoes.
