Location: Tucson, AZ 85735 Position Type: Seasonal, Non-Exempt Compensation: $15.15 - $17.00 per hour plus potential tip earnings Department: Food and Beverage Reports To: Bar Supervisor
Job Summary: Old Tucson Entertainment seeks an observant and efficient barback to support our bartending team, ensuring customers receive prompt and seamless service. The barback is responsible for maintaining bar cleanliness, preparing garnishes, restocking supplies such as napkins, straws, drinkware, and all other necessities, and assisting in all tasks that ensure smooth bar operations. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about menu items, attentive, reliable, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including restocking garnishes, straws, napkins, clean towels, and plasticware
- Ensure the bar is well-stocked with ice, liquor, wine, and beer
- Check taps and appliances for proper operation
- Restock and change out kegs as needed
- Maintain cleanliness by wiping surfaces, sweeping, mopping, removing soiled utensils, scrubbing coolers and storage areas, and emptying trash
- Learn and memorize menu items and recipes
- Properly store delivered items
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must meet minimum age to serve alcohol
- Courteous and friendly personality with professional appearance
- Knowledge of beers, wines, cocktails, and liquors
- Basic math and computer skills
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly
- Observant, thorough, responsible, and punctual
- Ability to meet physical demands, including walking, standing, lifting at least 50 lbs for extended periods
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Work Environment:
- Ability to lift, pull, push, and carry a minimum of 50 lbs
- Work in both interior and exterior environments
- Walk, stand, and maneuver on uneven surfaces
- Extended and irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays required
