Job Description
Title: Bartender / Beverage Server
The Metropolis Performing Arts Centre, a nonprofit organization located in downtown Arlington Heights with a 329-seat theatre and performing arts school, is seeking a Beverage Server/Bartender to join the Audience Services team. The lobby bar operates 30 minutes before performances and during intermissions.
Pay: $15/hour plus tips
Responsibilities:
- Complete and maintain Basset and Food Handling Certifications (renew every 3 years)
- Sell alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in compliance with legal regulations
- Vigilantly check IDs to verify legal drinking age
- Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the service bar
- Provide excellent customer service to all patrons
- Collaborate and communicate with Front of House employees
- Manage inventory, cash handling, and reporting using the Square point of sale system
- Handle stressful situations calmly and tactfully
- Communicate inventory needs with the Audience Services Director and Supervisor
- Perform thorough cleaning after shifts, including mopping as needed
- Monitor patron consumption to prevent over-serving
- Uphold Metropolis PERFORM values and promote an inclusive, accessible environment
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
- Minimum age 21
- 1-3 years of bartending experience preferred
- High school diploma preferred
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
Schedule:
- Part-time with flexible scheduling
- Most performances Thursday-Saturday evenings and weekend afternoons
- Some weekday performances
- Evening and weekend availability year-round, including most holidays except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day (holiday shifts rotate among staff)
- Performances occur Thanksgiving weekend, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Eve
