Title: Bartender

Department: Events Reports to: Food, Beverage and Merchandising Manager Type of Position: Seasonal Part Time

General Summary: Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR) is seeking a candidate with a strong customer service background to serve alcoholic beverages and concession items on board the train, in a cigar venue, and at remote locations.

Responsibilities:

Process customer transactions using the POS system
Accurately record staff-approved comps and discounts
Handle money responsibly and count the cash register drawer
Complete end-of-day drawer reporting and balancing of POS locations
Assist with onboard inventory and distribution for special programs or events
Load and unload food and beverage supplies on the train
Complete daily inventory and sales reports
Serve alcoholic beverages in compliance with Ohio liquor laws
Verify customer IDs and ensure responsible alcohol service in accordance with TIPS training
Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including mixing drinks, serving beer and wine, and preparing coffee
Clean work areas and sanitize equipment as needed
Remove trash at the end of shifts
Serve as a team leader and mentor to volunteers in onboard service positions
Provide a positive and polite customer experience by answering questions about events and the train
Resolve customer service issues professionally and report to CVSR staff as necessary
Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting in the cafe car

Requirements:

Must be 21 years of age or older
High School diploma or GED
Preferred: Minimum of 2 years bartending experience
Preferred: TIPS certified with valid certificate
Strong customer service skills
Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
Strong written and verbal communication and listening skills
Flexible availability including days, nights, and weekends
Ability to stand, sit, and/or walk on moving trains for prolonged periods
Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
Must have own transportation and be willing to work both outdoors and indoors
Valid state-issued driver's license required
