Position Summary: The Music Hall Cocktail Server uses interpersonal skills to anticipate guest needs, upsell food and beverages, and provide exceptional customer service in a fast-paced, high-volume concert hall environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Circulate through the work area to maintain atmosphere and line of sight
Follow House of Blues safety, health, and sanitation standards
Assist other employees as needed
Adhere to all opening and closing procedures and check out with manager on duty
Comply with all House of Blues policies and responsible alcohol service per local ordinance
Request identification for guests who appear under 30 years of age
Refuse alcohol service to intoxicated guests courteously and notify management
Handle cash, bank procedures, and process payments (cash and credit) using point of sale systems
Occasionally work special events within the venue
Engage with guests in a friendly manner to cultivate repeat business
Suggestively sell menu items
Take and deliver food and beverage orders promptly, maneuvering trays through crowds
Prioritize and organize drink orders
Clean spills and remove trash or obstacles using proper lifting techniques

Required Qualifications:

Work authorization in the U.S. without employer sponsorship
Attention to detail and positive attitude
Ability to work well in a team in a high-volume, sometimes stressful environment
Maintain a clean, well-groomed appearance
Punctual with flexible availability including nights and weekends
Respect for all cultures, music, and art forms
Responsible Alcohol Awareness Training Certification or equivalent (paid training provided)
Knowledge of cocktail tray service, basic food service, drink recipes and garnishes, and POS systems

Preferred Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent
Experience in a high-volume, fast-paced live music environment
Experience recognizing valid identification
Cash handling experience
Knowledge of beer, wine, and liquor, including current drink trends
Familiarity with MICROS point of sale system preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Willingness to commute to downtown area (discounted $7 parking available)
Fast-paced, sometimes hot and loud work environment
Extended periods of standing and working on feet
Must be able to lift or move up to 25 lbs. using proper techniques
